Series Overview

The early church showcases a powerful pattern: unity flows from faith, is proven in surrender, strengthened by grace, directed toward mission, and expressed in sacrifice. In the One Heart, One Soul Series, we explored the vital role of faith in creating a unified spirit within the church. With that unified faith, a blessing is commanded. The apostolic church described in Acts 4:32-35 serves as an example of this communal faith in action. Together, we will explore how we can cultivate that same spirit of radical generosity and solidarity.

  • While a shared belief anchors unity, it starts with a surrendered heart that declares, “nothing is ultimately mine.” Living in surrender fosters a deep understanding that everything given belongs to God. We are mere channels created to steward the blessings He has bestowed. When we come together in our Build Together Offering, our desire is a unified body committed to hearing and obeying God together. Our goal is to unite as one body, fully surrendered to hear and obey. As we serve through Spirit-led generosity and come together as one in surrender, we can trust that a blessing awaits.

Peter’s expedition reflects a priestly heart, illustrating the caring and teaching of others through the five-fold ministry. Paul’s journey highlights the mission. Believers live out their faith as employers, businesspeople, and property owners to spread God’s Kingdom. The Holy Spirit came upon the community, helping them unite in grace and fostering a shared spirit through hearing and obeying God.

  • This week, the focus will be on unity in mission. Unity serves a purpose. When we come together, God’s Kingdom advances, which is at the heart of the building together offering. The book of Acts describes what this mission looks like. Acts 1:8 is the heartbeat of the book. It provides a summary and a pattern of what we need to do. When the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we receive the power to be witnesses. Our mission is to be empowered by God, opposed by the enemy, and to build the church.
